Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) is an informal dialogue platform involving 22 countries in Asia and 31 countries in Europe. At the Summit ASEM 6 in Helsinki, Finland in 2006, the Heads of State stressed the importance of education as ASEM worthwhile investment for Human Resources (HR), which is realized through the ASEM Education Ministerial Meeting (1st ASEM Ministerial Meeting on Education - ASEMME ) in Germany in 2008.

ASEMME meetings have focused on the four pillars of education cooperation and partnership known as ASEM Education Process, namely:
1. Quality Assurance and confession.
2. Engaging Business and Industry in Education.
3. Balanced Mobility.
4. Lifelong Learning including Technical Education and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).
To support the implementation of commitments pillar 4th, 2015 ASEM Forum on Lifelong Learning, the biennial meeting of the 4th was held in Nusa Dua Bali on 9-12 March 2015.

This time is the Global Forum of the United Nations Alliance of Civilization (UNAOC), which took place on 28 to 30 August 2014 The theme of the forum is "Unity in Diversity" UNAOC is an international forum for sharing experiences in discussing pluralism. For the first time UNAOC Global Forum held in Asia. Indonesia was asked to host because they can serve as a model for pluralism. It's also a showcase for Indonesia to promote harmonization that has been maintained. Conference will raise understanding of the concept of a national country, which is "Unity in Diversity".

President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has invited 114 members UNAOC which includes 11 leaders of countries, 25 international organizations, as well as 100 members of the international youth delegation to attend the conference. The leaders of the country are expected to participate include: Spain, Turkey, Brazil, Qatar, Austria, Burma, China, India, East Timor, Papua New Guinea and South Africa. UNAOC is an initiative of the former Prime Minister of Spain, Jose Luis Rodriguez and Turkey Prime Minister, Recep Teyep Erdogan . The Forum is held each year to bring together an understanding and cooperative relations among nations that backed various cultures and religions.

UNAOC Global Forum was initially established on the basis of ideas against extremist actions aimed at strengthening pluralism and European society through conferences in Vienna, Austria. The forum then successfully bridge the gap between religions, cultures and civilizations in this Europe. Now the meeting in Bali is expected to create the same thing in Asia. UNAOC is intended to encourage the creation of harmony among civilizations, primarily by bridging the gap between Islam and the West civilization and building political will and mobilizing joint willingness to face the prejudice, misperceptions, and extremism in the society.

The theme this year is UNAOC theme "Unity in Diversity: Celebrating Diversity for Common and Shared Values​​". The event will be attended by two special envoys, 20 ministerial-level officials, high-ranking officials as well as representatives from organizations including the media. In addition to Ban Ki Moon, the President is also scheduled to meet with the Secretary General of the OIC (Organization of Islamic Conference) Iyad Ameen Madani and Director-General of UNESCO Irina Bokova.
President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) is scheduled to deliver a speech at the main global forum of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) sixth in Bali on December 27 to August 29, 2014, but on the sidelines of the event, the President has scheduled to hold talks with the Secretary General United Nations (UN) Ban Ki Moon who also attended the event
